The History of the King’s 8th Regiment
It all began back in 1974, with the Campaigns at Fort York in Toronto. The King’s 8th Regiment was one of the founding members of these campaigns. These camps however, were more of a Military type and not a Scout camp, like that at Fort George. The first camporee at Fort George had a total of 205 Scouts, leaders and support staff. It has been in operation for twenty years now.
These Camporees at Fort George are Scout Camps, based on a theme of taking us back in time to learn about our Heritage and what it was like in the British and American armies during the War of 1812.
