VIRTUAL FALL CAMPAIGN 2021
As we are all aware, a plague is upon us and the King George III has made a proclamation to keep all of the soldiers safe. COVID-19 is having a huge impact on our ability to move about and meet with friends. At this time, the USA-Canada border remains closed, there are restrictions on large gatherings, and many non-essential businesses have suspended operations. There is currently no firm date for a return to normal in Ontario. While we had hoped to run our camp in-person as usual, the uncertainty we are all facing means we will be switching to a virtual format, with a full weekend of online SBFG programs. Join us for battle drills, uniform tutorials, behind-the-scenes info on what it takes to run the camp, and much more! |
We are reaching out to past participants and groups to invite you to join this year’s Scout Brigade of Fort George Fall Campaign which is going virtual! We will be offering a virtual program on the camp weekend and hope you will join us.
New this year… once you register, you will have immediate access to the Scout Brigade Military Academy, a collection of many of the documents, templates, patterns, resources and how-to videos covering many of the topics that will help you prepare for camp, either virtual or in-person, including topics like making various uniform accessories, muskets and crafts. This information will be available right through camp weekend and for two weeks after camp. AND… August pre camp activities: Equipment making sessions will be open and live demo sessions will be held to help with any equipment questions. AND… Not sure about attending? Have questions? Want to know what Scout Brigade is all about? Then sign up to attend our Intro Night on ZOOM (even if you haven’t registered for camp) and we’ll answer all your questions about why you should enlist in the best camp of the year!. Sign up here. |
Virtual Camp Program Highlights
Join us for historical and Scoutcraft themed program activities for Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, and Venturers! We are working on our program for 2021 but we want to share some highlights with you:
- Sessions on equipment making (shakos, tunics, and haversacks)
- History of the War of 1812 and Fort George
- Cooking in 1812
- Marching, formations, battle tactics and of course firing a musket
- Shared sessions including opening, closing, and campfire
Perhaps your group has not attended in a few years and would like to try out the camp again.
Because this entire campaign will be virtual, and recognizing the difficulties groups are having planning for numbers for September, we’ve adjusted the price for participation in the Fall Virtual Campaign to make it FREE (not including camp crest… crests will cost $5 each sent by mail to the group). Registration includes access to our online programming on the weekend of September 17th – 19th, advance pre-camp activities August 3rd – September 14th, and a discount on your registration for the 2022 fall campaign. You can register your pack, troop, or company at joinsbfg.scouter.ca.
Registration is now open… and FREE! |
